Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the questions we are most often asked about Engage:

Who is eligible to be mentored?

In order to be a part of Engage, you need to be a Destination Work client in Birmingham.

Who can be a mentor?

Mentors must, firstly, be passionate about supporting a young person to reach their potential through the Engage project. This could take up to 12 weeks.

Finally, mentors must be aged between 25 and 55, free of a criminal record and be willing to commit to five hours a month of volunteering with the young person.

For more information and an information form, email Rachel at Rachelh@timebank.org.uk.

How long is the programme?

Mentors will support their assigned young people for about three months. During this time, there will be five weeks of training delivered to the young person, to help them learn new skills and deliver a community project of their choosing. During the following weeks, mentors can help the young people with their future plans, advice and offer support.
