Finding Hidden Carers in Birmingham
Hidden Carers is our exciting new volunteering project that recognises the vital role of carers.
A hidden carer is someone who might not realise that they are a care giver. They may be caring for a friend, relative or neighbour and need to improve their confidence and skills in English in order to access carer support.
Our Hidden Carers project aims to raise awareness and offer access to supportive services. We’ll recruit and train volunteers to deliver a one day interactive workshop to help carers understand their rights as a carer. The workshop will explore the Care Act 2014 and acknowledge the challenges and great work carers do on a day to day basis.
By the end of the workshop we want our hidden carers to feel part of a social support network, be aware of their legal positions as carers and understand what services are available to improve and maintain their wellbeing.
Workshops will take place across Birmingham and we are looking for volunteer facilitators to help deliver them. An understanding of the carer experience is desirable but not essential as full training and support will be provided.
If you are interested, please send your CV and a brief covering letter to the Project Co-ordinator, Siân Finn, by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to: Siân Finn TimeBank, Unit 755, The Big Peg, 120 Vyse St, Birmingham, B18 6NF
