GMTV teams up with TimeBank for 5th year of Volunteers' Week programming
Visiting causes close to their hearts, Pam St Clements (Albert Square’s Pat Butcher) spent time with Hearing Dogs for the Deaf; Shobna Gulati (otherwise known as Sunita Alahan) visited the Five Stars Scanner Appeal at the New Manchester Children’s Hospital; while Alex Carter (who plays Jamie Hope) found out more about Everyman, the testicular cancer charity.
This is the fifth year that GMTV has teamed up with TimeBank to highlight the importance of volunteer work in the UK today. Moira Swinbank, TimeBank Chief Executive said:
“GMTV’s programming brings volunteering to life, inspiring viewers to get out and make a difference in their own communities.
“We register viewers by phone, text and online, helping them to find local opportunities that match their interests and lifestyles.
“We’re delighted to be celebrating our fifth year of working with GMTV. To date Volunteers’ Week programming has recruited an amazing 8000 new volunteers and more than 73% of those registering are aged under 45.”
GMTV Volunteers’ Week will broadcast from Tuesday 29th May – Thursday 31st May on ITV1.
Ends.
