Andrée Deane named as the new Chair of volunteering charity TimeBank

Andrée Deane, a public affairs consultant and former Chief Executive of the Fitness Industry Association, has been named Chair of the national volunteering charity, TimeBank. She has been a trustee since 2011 and last year became chair of its fundraising and development committee.

Andrée started her career as a secondary school teacher. For 10 years she was Public Affairs Director and then Chief Executive of the Fitness Industry Association. Andrée currently manages a number of public affairs accounts as a consultant including football, film and volunteer related organisations. She also chairs a health-related charity in the south east of England, Rushmoor Healthy Living.

She takes over from Paul Jackson, the founding Chair of TimeBank, who has retired after nearly 12 years with the charity. Paul, who was director of entertainment and comedy at ITV until 2008, was also the founding Chair of Comic Relief. Inspired by the way Comic Relief changed the way people gave money, he worked with TimeBank to inspire people to give their time as volunteers.

Andrée says “I’m very proud to chair one of the most passionate and pioneering volunteering charities. Since it began in 2000 TimeBank has inspired 300,000 people to give their time and created its own ground-breaking mentoring and employee volunteering programmes.  Twelve years on, the charity has evolved but we are just as excited about what volunteering can achieve. I very much look forward to building on TimeBank’s innovative work.”
